PIT TEAM ORCS
1. TEAM COMPOSITION
Your ultimate team goal will be 1 Commander (tank) orc and 3 High Damage Per Second (DPS) orcs. DPS orcs are Marksman (MM / archer) and Tracker orcs. Until you get there it is suggested you use 2 tank and 2 DPS orcs.
2. LEVELING
It takes less grog to level a Captain than a Warchief and less grog to level a Warchief than an Overlord. Best to start with a Captain and then promote him after he’s high level.
3. TRIBES
The two main tribes of orcs you will want to recruit from are the Feral tribe and the Mystic tribe, mostly feral. Feral tribe has the Feral Attack ability (not feral weapons). This does bonus damage based on a percentage of the targets maximum health. 7.5% of a 70k health tank is a whole lot of damage. Marksman (MM) and Tracker orcs with this trait absolutely shred the enemy. Mystic tribe has the Mystic Aura which reduces enemy power levels. If possible one of your tank orcs should have Mystic Aura.
4. TANKS
Because of Feral Attack it’s advantageous for your tank orcs to have increased armor and not increased health. Avoid abilities that increase maximum health and choose ones that increase his armor, defence and regeneration. Abilities that are not constant, like ones that give a shield every 4th attack are of diminished value and unreliable. If you can get a Mystic Aura and increased armor tank, it’s a keeper. The tanks are simply there to absorb damage and give your DPS orcs time to work. Just like your tank champs, they don’t do loads of damage, so don’t bother with attack bonus abilities.
5. TRACKERS
Tracker orcs critical hit 75% of the time so it’s generally felt that if they don’t have the Opportunist trait, that increases critical rating, don’t bother with them. Feral Attack and Slayer of Orcs are also great traits for trackers. Increased attack and attack speed are also nice.
UPDATE - WB has changed Slayer of Orcs to apply only to orc champions so it’s no longer a great trait for the pits.
6. MARKSMAN
No matter what, if you see an archer orc with feral attack, BRAND HIM! They are rare as frogs hair, so don’t pass them up. I’ve only found 2 so far (Three as of this edit). Abilities that increase armor penetration, attack and attack speed are beneficial too. Opportunist not so much since their critical chance is not so great.
7. OTHER ORCS
Among the top guilds Blademaster (fighter) and Trickster orcs are generally considered undesirable for pit teams. But hey, whatever works for you is best. If I was going to use a fighter orc, I’d want feral attack, increased attack, armor penetration and increased attack speed. I don’t like tricksters so I have no recommendations for them but archer and fighter orc traits should do.
